Globally, the meat, fish and poultry industries have each had their share of rollercoaster rides over the dishonest and illegal practice of mislabelling. However, not all is as bad as it seems. In Smiths' , published in 1966, the authors claimed that 'far more fish named kingklip on menus is eaten than is ever caught'. Unfortunately, since then, not much has changed. In the world of seafood, looks can be very deceiving and substituting one species still occurs globally.
