n South African Food Review - Shaping the food industry : editor's forum




The local grains industry is under pressure and government's decision to roll out a National Food and Nutrition Security Plan could be a solution to food insecurity in South Africa. The main objective of the policy is to integrate and coordinate all food and nutrition security programmes in the country. A Centre of Excellence will be established, which will be administrated by The University of Pretoria and will conduct research on food and nutrition-related matters. The proposed time of implementation is March 2015, but nothing had been confirmed at the time of going to print.
