In a world that is continuously trying to reinvent itself, particularly with respect to social and environmental responsibilities, it is clear that 'natural' and 'environmentally-friendly' cosmetics are here to stay. These previously-considered faddish market sectors appear to have grown exponentially over the last few years. So much so that it has become an important deciding factor for many 'green' consumers and literally thousands of websites have sprung up as discussion forums or information blogs for such matters. Perhaps not surprisingly, this topic has become very emotive over recent years and, with that, has come a lot of confusion and misinformation. Questions regarding what it means to be a natural product and how environmentally-friendly a cosmetic can be have arisen and currently there are no clear cut answers to the questions being posed.
