Abstract

The overproduction of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) can result in not only an enlarged prostate, technically known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), but has also been identified as the cause of male pattern baldness. Just like blocking 5-alpha reductaste, which causes the formation of DHT in the body, causes prostates to significantly shrink, inhibiting 5-alpha reductase can help maintain healthy hair too.
