Extracted from text ... EDITOR'S COMMENT A world-class city Davina Hutchinson by 2030 South Africa has entered the biggest boom in construction activity in two decades. During the next six years an experienced pack of engineers will lead the way in establishing fixed capital assets that will hugely expand infrastructure. A further project, set on turning Johannesburg into a world-class city by 2030, will keep the engineering and construction spheres occupied. Johannesburg's current population (3.2 million) is expected to double by 2012 and IMIESA has been reporting on proposed initiatives and strategies aiming to maintain and save the ageing infrastructure.
