NEWS The recently completed rail terminal within the new multi-purpose terminal at the Port of Durban is set to increase efficiency and productivity and play a major role in alleviating congestion in the port. The contract to construct the R34-million intermodal facility was awarded to Protekon Port and Rail Solutions by the National Ports Authority (NPA) in April 2005. Protekon site manager, Fred Croft, says the project involved the construction of road works, track works, services, as well as rail and gantry supports.
