Extracted from text ... IMIESA OCTOBER 2006 - 23 The latest methods of removing pollution from stormwater conduits and urban streams were evaluated in a case study in Stellenbosch. The study suggests an approach that municipal engineers could use to effectively manage sewage, solid and oil wastes in urban catchments. Financial challenges often result in environmental issues receiving low funding priorities. Municipal engineers must therefore devise low capital and maintenance cost solutions.
