HDPE can be enhanced using chromium / silica catalysts, Ziegler-Natta catalysts or metallocene catalysts. The lack of 'branching' in HDPE, typical of LDPE, is ensured by an appropriate choice of catalyst (for example, chromium catalysts or Ziegler-Natta catalysts) and reaction conditions. HDPE is used in a wide range of products and packaging. Common applications in municipal engineering includes stormwater attenuation tanks, culverts, combined sewer outflows (CSO) attenuation tanks, surface drainage, inter-process pipe work and foul sewers.
