Abstract

The new 1412 Trakpactor is presently in operation reprocessing a coal ash waste dump that belongs to Sasol. In the past, until the gas pipeline was brought in from Mozambique in 2004, Sasol would process coal to extract the liquid hydrocar bons. Over the past five decades, the coarse ash waste from this process has grown into a dump of some nine million cubic metres. At present, a company called Little Pro Services is carrying out the reprocessing of the dump using two screens and the new Trakpactor. What this entails is sizing the material to ex tract the -20 mm fraction which is then sold to cement-brick screening manufacturers. Some 70-million bricks a month are made from the reprocessed ash.
