Way back in 1926, the same year that Italian dictator Mussolini's Irish wife broke his nose, much to the pleasure of the media, a grand old lady emerged from the engineering yards of Glasgow, Scotland. Not a ship but a gantry crane, this crucial piece of engineering equipment found its way to Cape Town where it was used by Portnet to assist in the building of Cape Town's docks and later the docks at Granger Bay.
