The eThekwini Municipal area extends from Tongaat in the north to Umkomaas in the south and to Catoridge inland. Durban is a worldclass destination city and has the busiest port in Africa as well as an international airport. The city's climate is sub-tropical and its topography is hilly. Light and heavy manufacturing industry is spread within the city boundaries with two refineries situated in the south Durban Basin.
