As I writer this, the last few games of the FIFA 2010 World Cup are being played. After years of preparation, planning and construction it seems the tournament has flown by - but every second of it has been testament to a job well done - excellently done - by everyone who has been involved in the event. The stadiums, practice facilities, and other infrastructure elements of the event have been displayed on a global showpiece and highlight the success and capability of our engineering and contracting industries. Many aspects of the infrastructural elements would simply not have been possible without the input from the municipal engineering fraternity who were responsible for the meshing of business plans and the actual construction. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them for their sterling effort in this regard.
