SANRAL IS A six-letter acronym that most Gautengers have come to dislike, because it's hit their pockets hard. E-tolls are not everyone's favourite dinner topic. Who has paid and who has not, and how much is owed, on account of supporting the OUTA protest, is a worry for many. And, the man in the middle is Nazir Alli, CEO of the South African National Roads Agency Limited (Sanral). Given the challenging and arduous task of leading the team responsible for developing and maintaining South Africa's national roads network, we have to look at what Sanral has achieved over the years and not judge the agency unfairly over the nontechnical aspect of just one project.
