LIMITS TO LIBERATION IN SOUTHERN AFRICA The unfinished business of democratic consolidation Published by the Human Science Research Council in association with the Journal of Contemporary African Studies When introducing the book, Henning Melber gives one the impression that its core focus is 'the contradiction represented by the fact that the Namibian and Zimbabwean liberation movements which spearheaded mass popular struggles for liberation from colonial rule have, in power, developed into authoritarian and, to varying degrees, corrupt ruling regimes'(page xiii).
