International participants at the Oslo Donorsï¿½ Conference on Sudan pledged a total of more than $4.5 billion for2005-2007 for the reconstruction and development of Sudan during the 11-12 April 2005 conference in Oslo, Norway.This amount far exceeded the $2.6 billion appeal of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Kofi Annan.Of this, approximately $2 billion is earmarked for development assistance in response to the needs documentedin the report of the Join Assessment Mission (JAM), done by the Sudanese parties, the UN and the World Bank.Out of the $4.5 billion, $500 million was committed to the Multi-Donor Trust Funds (MDTF) to be administeredby the World Bank.
