Chinese investments in Africa have grown rapidly in the past few years. After three decades of aggressive export strategies, China has accumulated enormous foreign reserves and private wealth; these have prompted both the government and private enterprises to seek overseas investment opportunities. For many Chinese investors, especially those which are state-owned, the strong political influence China has in Africa can translate into ease of market access and, to certain extent, investment security, making Africa their destination of first choice.
