Abstract

Assignment of trade marks from one entity to another is a frequent occurrence in business transactions between local entities. However, interesting questions arise when a trade mark is assigned from a local entity to a foreign entity; does the assignment of a trade mark amount to an export of capital and if it does, would the local entity require prior permission from Treasury before assigning a mark to a foreign entity?
