An eagerly anticipated three-week holiday in Aotearoa (the Maori name for New Zealand meaning land of the long white cloud) to reunite with family and soak up some Rugby World Cup action (yes it still hurts to say anything that rhymes with slice), left me with one overwhelming thought; New Zealand sells itself short as a country of rugby mad dairy farmers and awful weather. Well, well short. Not that New Zealanders' see themselves or their weather that way mind you, but this general perception has been allowed to grow into a truly misinformed stereotype.
