The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), widely known for its drug administration role in the US, has been on a campaign to clamp down on cosmetic companies commercialising cosmetic products displaying various therapeutic claims and associated health benefits. It has been issuing warning letters to cosmetic companies which are not in compliance with the FDA regulations, requiring registration and/or approval of cosmetic products having drug-like properties.
