South Africa has recently been chosen as the primary country to host the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), which will be the largest and most powerful telescope in history. It will be 50 times more powerful and 10 000 times faster than any existing radio telescope. It will enable scientists to travel back in time and to solve many of the mysteries of the Universe.
