In the film Pirates of Silicon Valley, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are portrayed as the young and ambitious pioneers they were in the 70s and 80s; in many ways it was a more exciting time for computing than during the boom years - back then it wasn't about selling someone a laptop or a tablet or a smartphone, it started with the radical idea of making a computer affordable and selling it to a home user. People were buying their first computers and work previously done on a typewriter or by pen could now be handled by a computer, which allowed for massive increases in productivity.

MMI Holdings, the recently merged Metropolitan and Momentum insurance groups, announced in June that it is looking to swallow the 50% stake in Momentum Short-term Insurance (Momentum STI) that it doesn't already own. This doesn't come as much of a surprise as Momentum STI was colloquially known in the industry as the Outsurance broker division because it offered the same product lines through intermediaries.
