The Immigration Act (13 of 2002) governs the entry of foreigners into South Africa, as well as their residence and employment in the country. It makes provision for different categories of temporary and permanent residence permits, including work permits. Any non-South African who does not have permanent residence in South Africa needs authorisation if they wish to work in the country.
