Personal branding is a crucial part of graduate recruitment. It demonstrates an understanding on the part of a student applicant of what prospective employers look for in the annual sea of applications. These days, online profiles are becoming more prominent in everyday life and many students wonder to what extent their online presence may affect their applications for work. Social media has, to some degree, blurred the lines between what is public and private, and what is personal and professional. As an example, an applicant may "like" a picture posted by someone online. Anyone who has access to that picture would potentially gain access to the applicant's online profile and view the applicant's previous posts.
