It is accepted that where a statute dictates certain procedures to be followed in respect of an agreement, they are to be followed. To do otherwise would render the agreement without effect. But, in many instances, this is not the end of the matter. Subsequent agreements to the original may be formed. The question then arises whether these subsequent agreements are also required to adhere to the relevant statute.
