Abstract

The manner in which authorities exercise their discretion could have indirect implications on the activity that forms the basis of the permission sought. These consequences could effectively deprive a property owner of certain rights to develop a property. Developers and owners of property need to acquaint themselves with the procedures and requirements set out in the National Heritage Resources Act, (25 of 1999) before acquiring or developing "old" properties.
