oa Modern Medicine - Management of anorectal disorders: haemorrhoids, fissures, and fistulae

Abstract

The four steps to the anorectal examination are the search for external signs (eg, hirsutism, furrows, faecal incontinence, or prolapse), digital rectal exam, anoscopy, and sigmoidoscopy. Haemorrhoids may be internal, external, or mixed; internal haemorrhoids are graded by the reducibility of prolapse.
