Abstract

Coronary artery bypass grafting is the most popular surgical procedure performed in Australia. The operative mortality is very low, but the long-term prognosis is a little less optimistic. Around 55% of saphenous vein bypass grafts will have occluded within seven years of operation with a picture of typical atherosclerosis.
