“Populism”in Argentina usually refers to Peronism,but in South Africa the media uses the term to refer to the far-left margins like the Economic Freedom Fighters and the student “Rhodes Must Fall” collective. The two countries on the whole share a basic “populist” speech pattern. The following essay attempts to provide a theoretical framework, hypothesis, which analytical study will still have to validate.
