Every year farmers, workers and family members are killed or maimed by cattle. Every month hundreds are injured by cattle. Every day there are countless "near hits" in handling cattle. Dangerous situations involving cattle are almost entirely avoidable and you or other workers needn't become a statistic.

To improve any practice on the dairy farm, records are of paramount importance. The breeding or reproductive area can only be altered and improved if a producer is willing to put time and effort into starting and faithfully maintaining a record-keeping programme. The record-keeping programme can be as complicated or as simple as one wants. A producer can buy breeding wheels or other devices that can make reproductive record-keeping easy. There is, however, a very simple system that can be set up by any producer.

Endometritis is an inflammation or irritation of the lining of the uterus (the endometrium). It is not the same as endometriosis. Endometritis is one of two types of inflammations of the uterus of a cow. Endometritis is a swelling of only the lining of the uterus and surrounding glands and does not involve the surrounding muscles.
