Abstract

It needed to be done. The second edition of Burchell and Milton (1977) had become outdated due to the recent dramatic developments in the field of criminal law and the corresponding impact of constitutional law developments in the field of criminal law in the past seven years. This third edition of (2005) is a substantial and comprehensive revision by Burchell of the older second edition, in a work of over 1000 pages, to update the field of criminal law in South Africa effective as on 30 September 2004. Burchell incorporates significant new material that does not only address the South African field of criminal law, but also various aspects and enactments of international criminal law, which makes this work an ideal legal source for research.
