Abstract

The title of the book lures the reader into thinking that, after reading the book, he would be able to distinguish the South African law of arbitration from the law of international arbitration. The law of international arbitration is a difficult concept since there is no such thing as a universal law of arbitration applicable to all international arbitrations and neither is there an international law of arbitration in the sense of international law principles applicable to arbitrations that have an international element. Or does the phrase refer to domestic arbitration versus arbitration with an international element? The preface to the book tries to provide assistance, but, again this does not help the reader much.
