Abstract

Cuba occupies a central position in South African foreign policy. To South Africans, especially those who participated in the struggle for freedom, revolutionary Cuba has been a source of inspiration. Once the democratic government in South Africa was instituted, the two countries established warm and strong relations which are expressed in an array of co-operation agreements. In the multilateral arena, Cuba and South Africa are members of the Non-Aligned Movement.
