Extracted from text ... Filmmaker explores the Japan?Brazil connection* Alexandra Russell-Bitting Brazilian filmmaker Tizuka Yamasaki looks Japanese, but sounds unquestionably Brazilian. A granddaughter of Japanese immigrants to Brazil, she recently gave a talk sponsored by the IDB Cultural Center on the interconnections between her two cultures. She illustrated her comments with clips from two of her films, Gaijin ? A Brazilian Odyssey and Gaijin 2, named after the Japanese term for foreigner or outsider.
