Abstract

The article focuses on relations between post-apartheid South Africa and Brazil, in the areas of politics, trade and investment, and defence. Although the primary focus is on bilateral relations, discussion of contemporary South African-Brazilian relations must also include the trilateral India, Brazil, South Africa Dialogue Forum (IBSA) and regional trade blocs Mercosur and SACU. Considerable progress has already been made in developing these relations, given the limited mutual knowledge between the two countries.
