Abstract

In hierdie artikel word die hoedanighede van die pedagogiese kunstenaarskap van Lorraine Frances Botha, dosent verbonde aan die Sentrum vir Onderwysontwikkeling van die Skool vir Opvoedkunde aan die Universiteit van die Vrystaat in Bloemfontein, ondersoek. Daar word spesifiek verwys na haar vermoë om deelnemers aan haar wiskundewerkswinkels se aandag deurlopend te behou deur kundig en kunstig te kommunikeer, deur aktiwiteite flink af te wissel en deur harmonie in haar aanbieding te bewerkstellig. Haar intuïtiewe aanvoeling en vermoë om deelnemers se gesigsuitdrukkings te "lees" en haar aanbiedings daarvolgens aan te pas word bespreek. Daar word gepoog om 'n bricolage van haar kunstenaarskap saam te stel binne die raamwerk van 'n artistieke ondersoek.


In this article the attributes of the pedagogical artistry of Lorraine Frances Botha, lecturer at the Centre for Educational Development of the School of Education at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein, are investigated. Specific reference is made to her ability to keep the sustained attention of participants of her mathematics workshops by communicating skilfully and artfully, by switching activities briskly and by establishing harmony in her presentation. Her intuitive ability to "read" the facial expressions of participants and adapt her presentations accordingly is discussed. An attempt is made to compose a bricolage of her artistry within the framework of an artistic inquiry.
