Extracted from text ... This year saw the formation of a new diabetes management group, the international pradial glucose regulation (PGR) study group. Composed of specialist diabetologists from the USA to Japan, this group is dedicated to examining the emerging evidence which suggests that it is not only fasting hyperglycaemia which contributes to poor outcomes in diabetic patients, but varying levels of postprandial hyperglycaemia. At a workshop held in Budapest in September last year, this group met to review the subject.
