Or is the culprit the practice of reusing needles designed for single use? David Gisselquist, John Potterat and Stuart Brody would have us think the latter. This group have recently published extensively, putting forward their theory that the HIV pandemic in sub- Saharan Africa was not as a result of sexual transmission, but as a result of unsafe injection practices.
