Unlike other forms of dementia, vascular dementia can be prevented by correcting or eliminating the risk factors for strokes. A stepwise deterioration and a fluctuating course are the characteristic historical features. Focal neurological signs (e.g. unilateral weakness, sensory loss, asymmetric reflexes or Babinski's sign) ..
