Sleep laboratories are useful for assistance in diagnosing certain sleep disorders. <BR>Sleep laboratories are ideal for the investigation of disorders of excessive sleep. <BR>Polysomnography is best done in a laboratory setting, with continuous monitoring by a technician. <BR>Multiple sleep latency tests are indicated for the investigation of narcolepsy. <BR>After a good history, a sleep diary is usually the best investigation for insomnia. <BR>A sleep test is only as good as the clinician interpreting it.
