A 10 year follow-up study of glucose tolerance in South African Indians aged >15 years, allowed for examination of clinical and biochemical characteristics based on body mass index (BMI) (kg/m2) categories. All subjects had anthropometric, demographic and biochemical measurements including a modified 75g OGTT. The 2000 WHO classification for overweight and obesity and the 1998 WHO criteria for disorders of glycaemia were used. ..
