A review of 4-year data of clinic patients with type 2 diabetes who had continuously received ActosTM (pioglitazone) 30 or 45 mg/day and no other thiazolinidiones shows that treatment with ActosTM was associated with sustained and progressive reduction of hypoglycaemia over that treatment period.1 In addition, after combination with ActosTM, the dose of other concomitant antidiabetic medications, including sulphonylureas, metformin and insulin, could be reduced during the first year of treatment and maintained for the entire 4 years.
