n SA Journal of Radiology - and perinatal hypoxic brain damage : pictorial review




Brain damage due to hypoxia <I>in utero&lt;/I&gt; or perinatally often results in specific radiological imaging patterns. The imaging findings are affected by the severity of the insult, the gestational age of the fetus or age of the baby and the time interval between the insult and performing the imaging. This review is aimed at categorising the different patterns of hypoxic brain damage according to the age of the patient at the time of the insult and the severity of the insult.
