Many factors may interact in predisposing a runner to an overuse injury. All of these factors need to be borne in mind when assessing such an athlete. A detailed biomechanical examination which includes an assessment of leg length, muscle flexibility and muscle strength is therefore essential before the relevant treatment can be given.
