Objective: To determine the training habits of top age group runners in the Two Oceans 56 km race. The specific questions of the study were: (i) were there gender differences in training habits of the top runners; (ii) was there a relationship between training volume and running performance at different distances; and (iii) did the older runners train differently from the younger runners? Design: A questionnaire study where the top 10 runners (male and female) in each of the 11 age groups were selected.
