The paper intends to measure the reproducibility and day-to-day consistency of fasting respiratory exchange ratio (RER) at rest and during exercise. On three separate occasions resting RER was measured for 5 minutes (after a > 15-minute stabilisation period) in 13 healthy subjects after a 10 - 12-hour overnight fast.
