Tennis elbow was first descriptionbed in 1873. It is interesting to note that this was the same year that lawn tennis was invented. Medically, the correct terminology is that of epicondylitis of the elbow. This is a very common injury seen in tennis players. It has been estimated that almost half of all tennis players over the age of 30years suffer from tennis elbow at some stage in their playing career.
