This research examined the psychological preparation of elite (national and provincial) South African athletes to determine the quantity and quality of sport psychology techniques in use. Design. Sportsmen and women (N = 30) from a variety of athletic disciplines either completed an appropriate questionnaire (N = 15) or agreed to be interviewed (N = 15) to determine which sport psychology skills they were using and/or felt were useful.
