*Received for publication October 12, 1938. An experimental investigation into the presence of cytochrome in lymphocytes is descriptionbed. A possible relationship between the respiratory and metabolic properties of lymphocytes and cancer cells is discussed, and inferences are drawn therefrom regarding the lymphatic spread of carcinoma. The relative metastasising properties of sarcomata and carcinomata are briefly discussed.
