Abstract

*Received for publication October 6, 1939. B. tuberculosis of bovine type has been isolated from a fatal case of probable intestinal tuberculosis in a child aged 6 years. The history of his having cosumed large quantities of raw milk from an early age, although not conclusive, suggests, suggests the likely source of infection. This is aparently the first recorded case of human infection with B. tuberculosis of bovine type in the Union of South Africa.
