oa South African Medical Journal - Occipito-posterior position of the vertex and deep transverse arrest of the head

Abstract

""Deep transverse arrest of the head"" should be recognised as a condition distinct from the ""unreduced occipito-posterior."" For treatment hospital, or at least a suitable table of adjustable height with lithotomy supports, is a necessity. A general anaesthetic should be given. The position of the child should be corrected manually and forceps then applied, not before.
